Cosequin, Welactin and Denosyl now available in USA to IAADP Members
Nutramax: In Appreciation of a Multi Strand Partnership

When we first met the folks from Nutramax Laboratories, Inc. several years ago at the North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, little did we realize how much a part of our lives and the life of IAADP they would become. Initially, they agreed to sponsor the Veterinary Care Partnership program (VCP). Then, extended their support by offering their outstanding glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate joint health product Cosequin to all assistance dog partner members at no cost. Their IAADP outreach has since expanded to include sponsorship of several issues of Partners' Forum.
Recognizing the international nature of IAADP, Nutramax extended its provision of Cosequin to Canadian members.
In addition to Cosequin, U.S. partner members are eligible to receive Welactin, an Omega 3 salmon oil product, and Denosyl, a product supporting and protecting liver function in dogs.
In 2003, during a business trip to Washington, DC, we were able to visit Nutramax headquarters in Edgewood, Maryland. Hosted by Dr. Barbara Eves, we were pleased to share the IAADP mission with Nutramax' enthusiastic and caring staff. In 2005 we spent several hours at the Nutramax booth in the exhibit hall at the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas. Nutramax purchased autographed copies of our book, Partners In Independence: A success story of Dogs and the Disabled, to be given to the first 100 conference attendees visiting the booth.
Coming to the rescue in July 2005 when Bayer Animal Health was no longer able to administer VCP claims, Nutramax assumed this pivotal role in the IAADP support system. Veterinary Technician Debbie Vischer now handles calls from veterinarians applying for a VCP grant on behalf of an IAADP partner member unable to meet high cost veterinary interventions.
IAADP salutes this caring company for its continuing support and recognition of the role they play in maintaining the highest quality of health of our guide, hearing and service dogs!

Limbering Up Limbs! ( How to Obtain Cosequin through your Veterinarian )

Our guide dogs have been delighting in their daily dose of Cosequin, a glucosamine/chondroitin preparation. Cosequin and its human counterpart CosaminDS, are used to protect and support joint cartilage in animals and people. This universally acclaimed supplement produced by Veterinary Care Partnership sponsor Nutramax Laboratories will now be available to all IAADP assistance dog partner members whose veterinarians prescribe this advantageous preparation for their canine assistants.
Dr. Barbara Eves has developed a procedure to make the process simple and smooth. Your veterinarian will contact CARA, program coordinator, at Nutramax Laboratories, 800-925-5187. A copy of your membership card will need to be faxed, and the Nutramax staff will verify eligibility. Upon confirmation of your current status, a six month supply of Cosequin will be mailed directly to your home.
IAADP salutes Dr. Barbara Eves who steered this program through the various company channels. Without her enthusiastic support, this partnership would never have been consummated.
Update on Welactin and Denosyl !
Nutramax Laboratories has added their new product, Welactin, to their already established benefits of Cosequin and Denosyl. Welactin is a palatable salmon oilsupplement designed to help support dogs= overall wellness during the aging process. It contains Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, which have beneficial effects in helping to supportbrain, kidney, skin and heart health. If your veterinarian requests these health-enhancing supplements, Nutramax will mail them directly to your home. Welactin is not currently available in Canada; Cosequin and Denosyl are available.
